WBT Creation
Web-based Training (WBT) modules offer many advantages over videos in terms of learning. Web-based Training modules are highly interactive delivery method of elearning. A WBT delivers a more enhanced learning experience by ensuring that the learner is no more passive while learning. A WBT module offers a learner many opportunities to interact with the given content. For example, the screen displays a learner four images and the learner has to identify the correct image and select it, the learner can select it while using a WBT but not a video.
Today, almost every school, every company, every bank or training delivery institute use Web-based training modules to deliver their online training. Web-based Training modules are better than videos because this form of delivery achieves the higher level of interactivity. With videos, the users just watch them, rather passively, and there is less opportunity for interaction. WBTs force the users to provide their responses during the content delivery. Learners have to make certain selections, press certain buttons or perform the desired interactions on the screens while learning. Thus, WBTs make the learners “involved” in learning and achieve higher level of engagement.
WBTs are created using different authoring tools like articulate Storyline, Captivate, Lectora, Camtasia, etc. Since the WBTs are exported as SCORM packages, they communicate with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and provide data to LMSes related to learner interactions and LMSes record learner interaction data. This further helps the trainers to see and check the learner’s performance. Trainers, administrators or managers can evaluate the learner’s performance based on the data that is collected by an LMS.
